Guyana’s population (Guyanese people) is made up of five main ethnic groups: Amerindians, Africans, Indians, Europeans, Portuguese and Chinese. Ninety percent of the inhabitants live on the narrow coastal plain, where population density is more than 115 inhabitants per square kilometer (300 /sq mi). According to the 2010 revision of the World Population Prospects the total population was 754 000 in 2010.
